"Reading" art is like palmistry and hieroglyphics

When you look at art, what do you see? What do you feel? Do you say, "I don't understand art"?

To me, an artwork says so much about the person who made it. It tells me what mood they were in, what was going on in their life, and how they saw the world and others at the time they created the art work. It's really much like reading a palm, or faces...or hieroglyphics, for that matter. To the person who understands how to decipher what they're looking at, looking at art is like looking inside the artist, straight to what their soul is telling them.

Not only do the artworks say a lot about the artist, they also carry the energy "fingerprint" of the artist...and also those who have touched the work...and components of it. There are traces of energy even from the spaces where the artwork has ever found its home.

"Reading" art is really an innate skill we all have. It's a world unto itself and is similar to learning to understand your nightly dreams or to reading your own palm. And one of the reasons I was born is to help those who wish to be reconnected with this natural talent. I do this through my blog as well as my books, coaching, workshops, and talks.

If what I've written here speaks to you, you're a visual artist, and you'd like me to guide you to reconnecting with yourself, I invite you to read more about my upcoming workshop, to be held surrounded by the magnificence of the Rocky Mountains in April 2010.

If you're not a visual artist but would like to rediscover your own talent for "reading" art, I welcome you to email me.

And if you're not interested in finding your own voice but are interested in working together with me in helping others to rediscover their own innate talents, I also welcome you to email me.

Thanks Mark. I finally understand what "And the meek shall inherit the earth" means. it's not about those who are "weak", rather it's about those who live quietly and tread gently upon Mother Earth.
